I don't think you can draw a webcomic and count yourself a geek without tipping your hat to xkcd at some point. That said... this conversation did nearly exactly happen, aside from the explicit Ballmer Peak reference. And if you're wondering, I was in Trixie's shoes. (Though I cannot deny that I have attempted Ballmer Peaks.)
